A carefully designed CDS space frame system was chosen for this year's Phoenix (Coventry University's Formula Student Car). It was decided very early on in the project that this years chassis would be developed. The approach was to carefully triangulate the steel tubing, to allow all load paths to be directed to all most pure compression, or tension (no bending moments).
